It seems like it’s overload followed by overheat on the spindle
The LTI motion drive has error message indicating this
Spindle is free spinning. Can we test the spindle somehow without removing? Is there a resistance across windings or something we can check?
Y axis is fine, moves okay so brake is okay.
In USA we have many lava mills that we add a resistor to the circuit for temp sensor in the spindle. I think more than half my mills we added one resistor across both wires going to the spindle internal thermistor.
It is easy and fast. The LUST spindle controller is too sensitive with this.
Go get that dude and tell him to come back here so he can get some good help! We didnt finish fixing
If not using the pink chiller fluid then corrosion will happen in a Festo fitting near the spindle and reduce flow.
But 99% of the time the spindle is not actually overheated!
The beckhoff controller has it's own temp sensor for the coolant. But this temp sensor almost never gets out of range. It always the LUST controller and the internal Fischer precise spindle thermistor that gets wonky. That sensor is embedded in the top section of spindle and glued in with the coils. Not actually in the coolant area but rather the top electrical part of spindle. Super common problem!
Tell Bruce to throw a 2.2 ohm resistor across the two wires for the spindle thermistor circuit.
I am traveling. But these two wires terminate to a little baby circuit board the size of a fat finger. This board had a round brown fuse 1cm diameter usually this board plugs into a primacon larger board
Wow, you made short work of that! I’ll go find some red red (gold?) resistor and take to him !

One of my mills we had to add two of these resistors. But the way.....same resistor will simulate an air bag in most all cars.
Hi Scott sorry for not getting back to you after a while, it was a very busy time before the end of financial year in Australia so I had to leave that issue behind and move on with the others. Thank God that I have Chris who is quite knowledgeable about CNC machine and he helped me check up. I will get back to it to it today.

With the 2.2 resistor, are you saying put in line with PTC, parallel with, or swap sensor for resistor?
I’m interpreting it as a swap (ie removing the PTC leads and substituting for the resistor )
This is a cnc 500 and the tiny board that get the resistor.....
Very top of mill.....Left side.
This is Lava Form that required two resistors....same thing. Same spindle.
Experiment with putting resistor in-line with One wire like pic above.
Also you could try to bridge the Two wires if that does not work.
Or Try Two resistors.
The mill above is only happy with Two resistors as in pic.
All my other mills we use One resistor.
