A quick google search says it has something to do with ActiveX.

Do you have/use Microsoft Visual studio installed on your machine?

Never heard of this, but I think you have something cornfused......

You have some 3d printer software on your PC?

A .ctl is also an stl that has been "sliced" to prepare for 3d printing.

?? No longer in stl file-format.

Certified Trust is still an stl.....not .ctl.

You just need to choose the program exocad CADApp to open as default in Windows.

    If not working then......

in older versions of exocad CADApp......right-click on background and choose settings or options.

Check the boxes for auto-open stl and other CAD files.

This is another way to try besides the Windows thing.

To find this in 5521 or 5541....you go to "Tools > Settings > Set Default program for file Types"

    It changed.....my bad!

    ???

    You good now?

If you updated exocad....then now you have a different program to choose as default in Windows.

Windows may be looking for an older version of exocad that is no longer in the same place, or is deleted.

The icon may look the same, but the program is now different.

Choosing this option in settings of exocad is a better way to pick the default program to open stl files.

    Follow my instructions please.

Open CADApp.....right click on background....settings.....choose files to open with exocad.

I cannot be any more specific! LOL

    ??

You can still just look at any stl file using the exocad CADApp. Same/same.

Not really necessary to use the 3d viewer. But, if you insist on that program.......

You can choose in 3d viewer what files to auto open, then exact same way as the DentalCADapp.

    ??

Right click on background and choose settings, etc....

    OK?

Just checked. Works the same as CADApp 5164. It threw an error message at me when I tried to make it the default to open .stl and .off since I have CADApp set to the default program to open those.

Yes, you cannot have conflict I guess.

Only choose One, or the other.

Maybe 3d viewer if you are only looking at files mostly.

We have a different program all together that we open stl files with.

    Not exocad.

There is a software conflict. You can't have both programs set as default to open the same files.
After closing the error message, reopen the settings and look at it. The .stl and .off are unselected from the list selection the rest are left unchanged.
