Trios to exocad file conversions. Is inbox the only way?

Hi everyone. I had recently bought exocad and have a client that has a trios intra oral scanner. I understand that I need the 3shape inbox to convert the 3Oxz and dcm into an stl file in order for exocad to design with.

I have read that cross manger can convert the files to stl. Does cross manager do everything that I will need to be able to work?

I'm also weary if 3shape encrypts the files even more or differently, cross manager will not be able to convert them cleanly anymore.

Is there any other way to make my workflow more smoothly?

Thank you for your suggestions and thoughts.

.3OXZ files can be imported directly into exocad, no need to convert. All it takes is a small edit to the defaultsettings.xml to add the import button. If you have a .30xz file saved to your PC, I can show you exactly how it is done. Just PM me your teamviewer info, or PM me for my email contact.

Do you still need to pay the anual fee in order to be able to work and use the scanner?

Hey liquid, teamviewer is not running on your PC. See attached screen shots to make the edit to add the Trios import button to your DentalDB.

Add these lines of text to create a trios import button.

    <ScanImport03Enabled>1</ScanImport03Enabled>
    <ScanImport03ImportMode>All</ScanImport03ImportMode>
    <ScanImport03Fallback2dcm>true</ScanImport03Fallback2dcm>

Be sure that the text appears exactly as it does in the screenshot, spacing matters.

Once that button is added, open the dentalDB, click "load" and you will see a "TRIOS import" button. Click the trios import button and select a .3OXZ file. The file will load into the DentalDB as a case that has already been set up, all you have to do is click design.

Sorry liquid, just saw your post. That is normal, that message will always pop up. Just click okay, and proceed straight to design. Every TRIOS case will import like that.

The material doesn't really matter. They just have a different name for zirconia. You should be in good shape.

Can you post screen shot of the file path were the Trios scans are located and the exact file extension of them?

I got it working thanks to Jake kvonn3gut!
I didn't save the project before I clicked the design button.

Saved me a bunch of dongle death fees. I think I have everything I need to start designing now. I need to get the training to learn how to use the software now.

    Thank you everybody

Hello friends , I know I am late to the thread.
How can I receive Trios scans from my dentist? do I need to buy the Trios in box stand alone software since I have Preciso Exocad?, I am just confused on this, as mentioned previously above in pic I have the button that says Trios and others in Exocad .
    Thanks in advance

Trios now comes with stl export if the dentist asks for it. They can export to a folder on the desktop and then send to you via any FTP type site.

Thanks tooth, is this without the Trios stand alone software? Is it compliant with regulations?
I was told Trios in box stand alone is $2,250.00 to get in and $600.oo annualy

It would be compliant with regulations if you use a HIPAA compliant FTP service. They are available.
I have two clients doing this.
I don't have Trios inbox or anything 3Shape

I've been using DDX, but there are others. DDX has been the path of least resistance so far. It is integrated with Dentrix which is probably one of, if not the most used dental office software in US.
Have a look at this. It gives a good explanation of what is needed.

I am also using Tiger Connect for HIPPA compliant text and photo communication with my clients. I use exocad's Dental Share Webview as well.

Is there a cost/fee for Tiger Connect? We need something to streamline our data flow and make sure we're HIPPA compliant

I thought we used a free trial limited version but this website says different. $10 per month per user in your group. I do believe you can connect to other groups using tiger connect.
It is capable of way more than what we are using it for.
