    Hello all,

I have been a long time 3 shape user but have recently coverted to ExoCAD rocking
I was looking to purchase a laptop or 2in 1(for design only) but I cant find current ExoCAD system requirements.

Also, anyone have experience designing with a stylus? Recommended? Avoid?
Thanks all, I will do my best to pop into the 3shape topics to help however I can.

    System requirements
Our software runs on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8, and Windows 10. Windows 7,8 and 10 in 64-bit and 32-bit incarnations. A 64-bit platform with at least 4GB RAM is highly recommended. Since the software takes full advantage of multi-core CPUs, the usage of a modern CPU such as Intel Core i7 is highly recommended.

For base functionality, a typical mid-range graphics card from nVidia or ATI should be sufficient. However, some add-on modules have further requirements:

    • For TruSmile Technology , a modern nVidia graphics card such as GeForce GTX 460, GTX 560 (or faster) is required.
    • For the DICOM viewer , a graphics card with at least 1.5GB of video memory is required

Stick with nVidia graphics cards. Mine has 4gb. Using nVidia control panel set exocad to use the vid cards resources.

Some people are using Wacom tablets or win8 laptops with touch screen. There are some vids on YouTube.

    Thanks for joining 3d-dental.:fart

I tried to work with touch screen and after that with 3D mouse like SpaceMouse. Definitely I prefer second one.

look at scanner driver under what SO works. in my case, I have an Open Technologies scanner and they have no driver for windows 10. I must stay on windows 8. an PC with windows 10 is not a solution for me.

    an low budget solution.

if you have and iPad Pro sitting around, you can turn it into a second screen with a pen input..... my go to solution for now.

here is the link to the app you need to run it: www.duetdisplay.com

Not sure what specs are needed for exoplan, but that machine seems to be enough. I would consider upping the RAM to 32GB.
CBCT data volumes can be pretty big 1GB+

What are some off-the-shelf ready to use computer systems that will run Exocad?

Why don't you go to your computer shop and tell them what you need. Pay for it and move along with making crowns. I spent 2300. on a computer 3 years ago that has been a work horse. it's not about saving money, it;s abotu making the money you have work for you. BTW, with your attitude don't ever bitch about a cheap dentist
